Seniors

  • In terms of housing, a senior is an individual who is, usually, over 59 years of age. One member of the household must be at least 59 years of age in order to apply for a subsidized seniors’ building. Some housing providers have mandates that consider seniors to be at least 65 years of age.

  • If you are a senior in need of personal and medical care, you may be able to arrange for care in your home through a Community Care Access Centre.

  • The Home Adaptation for Seniors Independence program may pay for modifications to your house that are aimed at keeping you safe, secure and living independently.

  • This page talks about seniors’ homes and other information for seniors.

  • There are also options for seniors who require more personal care, such as retirement homes, supportive housing and long term care homes. Each one offers different levels of care. You can read about these types of homes on The The Care Guide website.
