At the stroke of noon on February 15, 1965, Canada’s red and white maple leaf flag was raised for the very first time on Parliament Hill. Since then, it has become a powerful symbol of unity, resilience, and pride for all Canadians. In 1996, this day was officially recognized as National Flag of Canada Day.

Our flag represents the values we cherish most – democracy, inclusion, equity, and the strength of our diverse communities. It is a symbol that unites people across the country, from coast to coast, and is recognized around the world as an emblem of freedom and opportunity.

At CUIAS Immigrant Services, we are proud to celebrate this day with our community, honoring the country that has welcomed so many newcomers and given them the opportunity to build a new life. Canada’s flag is more than just a design – it is a reflection of a nation that embraces diversity and stands for hope and progress.

🎉 Let’s celebrate 60 years of our Canadian flag! Whether you are a newcomer, a long-time resident, or a proud Canadian citizen, today is a day to reflect on the meaning of this iconic symbol.
